Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer

At Oxford College of Health and Technology, we support students who bring real-world skills, prior qualifications, or workplace experience by offering Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer pathways. These options can save you time and money while fast-tracking your career goals.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process where we evaluate your skills, knowledge, and experience — gained through work, volunteering, life experience, or previous study — to determine if you already meet the requirements of one or more units in your course.

Examples of evidence accepted:

  • Previous job roles or industry experience
  • Informal or non-accredited training
  • Life experience (e.g. caring for others, managing teams, etc.)
  • Volunteer work or community roles
  • Work samples or performance appraisals

Benefits of RPL:

  • Reduce your study time
  • Avoid repeating content you already know
  • Save on tuition fees
  • Get qualified sooner

 How the RPL Process Works

  1. Speak to our team before enrolling to check if RPL is suitable for you
  2. Complete the RPL Application Form we provide
  3. Gather evidence with support from your trainer/assessor
  4. Undertake an RPL assessment using our RPL Kit
  5. Receive results and credit for approved units
  6. Continue the rest of your course with reduced workload where applicable

💡 If RPL is not granted, you can still complete the units through normal training and assessment.

What is Credit Transfer?

If you’ve completed a nationally recognised qualification or units of competency at another Australian RTO, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer. This allows you to transfer credit for identical or equivalent units into your new course.

To apply for Credit Transfer, you’ll need to provide:

  • A certified copy of your Statement of Attainment or qualification, OR
  • USI transcript with permission for us to access and verify

📝 How to Apply

To apply for RPL or Credit Transfer:

  1. Contact our Student Services team at admin@oxfordcollege.edu.au or call 0411292867
  2. Complete the appropriate application form (RPL or Credit Transfer)
  3. Provide evidence (work samples, certificates, transcripts, etc.)
  4. Our assessors will review your application and notify you of the outcome

Important Notes

  • You must apply before or at the start of your course
  • There may be fees associated with RPL applications (details in your RPL Kit)
  • We follow strict ASQA and Standards for RTOs 2015 compliance, including fair, valid and reliable assessment
